SPLM/A–Shilluk Conflict in Upper Nile

This briefing reports from the conflict between the SPLM/A and the Shilluk ethnic group in the Upper Nile region, which started around April 2010 when four Shilluk SPLM–DC candidates for parliamentary positions in the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly (SSLA) were elected but refused by the SPLM/A.

The CSRF, hosted by Saferworld and swisspeace, was established in 2016 to support the aid sector in South Sudan to be more conflict-sensitive. We provide analysis, convene discussions, share learning, and support capacities to strengthen positive contributions to peace and reduce the risks of unintended harm. Together we are building a movement for better aid in South Sudan.
