This report is based on fieldwork conducted in counties inhabited by Nuer speakers in the counties of Payinjar and Leer in western Upper Nile, and Akobo in the central Upper Nile Region. The study explores traditional authorities in the Upper Nile region.

The CSRF, hosted by Saferworld and swisspeace, was established in 2016 to support the aid sector in South Sudan to be more conflict-sensitive. We provide analysis, convene discussions, share learning, and support capacities to strengthen positive contributions to peace and reduce the risks of unintended harm. Together we are building a movement for better aid in South Sudan.
