The Murle and the security complex in the South Sudan-Ethiopia borderlands

This paper explores the cross-border attacks from South Sudan into Gambella in April 2016. Doing this it counters reductionist narratives of Murle communities and the role of Murle leaders.

The CSRF, hosted by Saferworld and swisspeace, was established in 2016 to support the aid sector in South Sudan to be more conflict-sensitive. We provide analysis, convene discussions, share learning, and support capacities to strengthen positive contributions to peace and reduce the risks of unintended harm. Together we are building a movement for better aid in South Sudan.
