This article considers how China’s involvement in and relation to Sudanese politics has developed over the past two decades, by examining two important and inter-related manifestations of China’s changing engagement with Northern and Southern Sudan amidst the coexistence of ongoing conflict in Darfur and a formal North–South peace.
